Lore
Generations
Like many long running series there are generations within League of Reapers. There are technically five in total.
Generation Zero
The wide world of Reapers started by the illustrious content creator, Cryptfly on TikTok. Generation Zero is in reference of the arcs, realms and characters on TikTok. It won't be referenced in the arcs through the discord roleplaying but should be acknowledged.
Generation One
Generation One (Gen 1), is the beginning of the rp on the discord. It started as just a way to connect but rolled out into the first official arc of the realm of League of Reapers. The first arc officially known as the Afflicted Gods Timeline.
In Afflicted Gods Timeline all of the Reapers of Mist were killed from the Affliction. It is called the Afflicted Gods Timeline because the final battle was between afflicted Sigrunn and Miss Mist which also infected the Norse Gods. All died and the Hall burned down. In an act or heroism Binx reset the timeline to a crucial spot in the timeline so they could restart and beat Cessair. In doing so the gods weren't infected and created a new timeline the Binx Timeline.
Gen 1 included one-shot The Beach Episode.
This was the end of Gen 1.
Generation Two
Generation Two (Gen 2) started at the restart of the timeline. It is currently the longest-running generation. Major arcs include The Annual Meeting, The Mortali, Alea Iacta Est, The Fall of Drakkar, Apotheosis, Fae Party and the one-shots The Hall is Sick, Dance Macabre, Reaper Picnic, and Dream Chaos.
Gen 2 is currently on-going.
Generation Three
Generation Three (Gen 3) is an AU world that started in the Fall of 2021. Union District is a League of Reapers AU. Much like a coffee shop AU, all characters are mundane but very much themselves. The District itself is a neighborhood in Jonesport, a mid size east coast city about a day’s drive from New York. There are numerous small business and organizations to which characters belong.
Gen 3 is currently on-going
Generation Four
Generation Four (Gen 4) is the new adventure that the creators are jumping into. After four years of writing it was decided to give it a fresh breath of air by creating a separate timeline. One with current characters in the current time but without the previous arcs. While creating League of Reapers there were many times that the tracks were being laid in front of the train as it went. This will give a nice reboot to fix lore and knowing the world in and out now so it can lend to a more free-flowing roleplaying experience.
Gen 4 will start in the Fall of 2022.
Differences For Gen 4
Many things stayed the same between the generations with Gen 1 and 2, but it was flying by the seats of our pants. For Gen 4 we are starting fresh and changing things to be more for roleplaying and a little bit of chaos.
Poofing or Teleportation. In previous generations reapers and gods alike could teleport anywhere they wanted. Which can be fun but caused far too many deus ex machina instances. In Gen 4, reapers can teleport but only straight to their charges, after some training, and places they personally know. A reaper can teleport to their halls but not to Paris unless they've been there. The less they know a place, the harder. And the more they poof to places they don't know in one instance the more energy they take. After too many teleportations at once, unless it's a charge, the more apt they are to collapse with exhaustion.
Vortexes. So how do reapers get around? Or Supernaturals for that matter? Vortexes. There are vortexes or portals around the world that let you teleport to other places. Some are privately owned. Some are owned by certain pantheons. Some are owned by the fae. Some charge, some barter, some trade and some just show up anywhere but teleport you anywhere in the world. Hall 365 was the first and so far only Hall to own and manage a vortex.
Halls. Halls are no longer residences in Gen 4. They are places for gathering and getting help with upper management. Think a VFW. Reapers all live in their own places, some places that are run by supernaturals. Some not.
Archives. Halls no longer have their own private archives. Now there is one major Union run archive that has archivists and all of their own books and info. Then there are the other libraries around the world.
Reaper Powers. Previous generations reaper powers were pretty willy nilly. Now they are a bit more tweaked and centered on the reaper. Most powers only work when they have a charge or when their life is in dire peril. Other than that they can't access them. Each reaper's powers are centered on who they are and who their charges are, and they are to help them cross the soul to their next point of life. Reapers invisibility is now an ability to just be unseen, overlooked. They have to work on mortals to notice them, but they're not fully invisible. Glamour and poofing items to yourself is a learned skill for reapers and takes time to learn.
In Betweens. Past generations we've let In Betweens go by the wayside. In Gen 4, we are putting a heavier emphasis on what they are. In Betweens are pocket dimensions that only appear for reapers to ferry souls to their next afterlives. Reapers can't go to afterlives, and the In Betweens cater to the reaper and the soul. The pocket dimension stays there as long as the soul needs it but once they move onto their afterlife, the reaper has a limited time to leave before it collapses on itself.
Reaper Sickness. Previous generations reapers would get a pain that would get worse the longer they took to respond to a charge. In Generation 4, reaper sickness is a reflection of what the charge is feeling. The longer a reaper takes to respond to a charge, the stronger those feelings are. This goes from an intense feeling of what killed them to the intense emotions that they are going through. Some reapers push going to their charges to have their powers longer, but it comes at a cost and if found out deliberately avoiding going to a charge for use of your powers could land you in deep trouble with the PTB.
Supernatural Residences. Since Halls are no longer places of residence for the Reapers, they have to have someplace to lay down their head or keep all their stuff. They can live in a mortal, mundane house or apartment, but there are neighborhoods, apartment buildings and so on that are populated by more supernatural creatures than mortals. Most are not exclusively Reapers, but fae creatures, nymphs, and other strange creatures that walk the earth that are not human. It can be safer and more dangerous in these enclaves.
Deity Powers. Much like reapers powers, we are going to more focused powers and abilities for deities and their pantheons. In the server we will share a link to show as an example of powers but what this means a god with the domain of harvests and agriculture is going to find it really hard to do healing powers. Stronger pantheons will have stronger abilities and lesser known ones less.
Pantheon Dimensions. The worlds or planes where Pantheons live are unavailable for other supernaturals to get to unless specifically invited and brought there.
